ANC 1D Passes Resolution in Support of Safe Bike Infrastructure

ANC 1D, covering Mount Pleasant and the northern part of Columbia Heights, passed a resolution in support of establishing a safe bike lane connection between Mount Pleasant and the 15th St NW Protected Bike Lane, which currently is only a narrow and unprotected one-way bike lane north of Euclid St NW.

All seven ANC Commissioners voted in favor of the resolution.

The resolution states that ANC 1D is strongly in support of establishing safe bike connections between Mt Pleasant St, 16th St and the 15th St NW protected bike lane.

Therefore, be it resolved that: ANC1D strongly supports a proposal for community consideration and development of a safe connection for bicycle riders to travel between Mt Pleasant Street, 16th St, and the 15th St NW protected bike lane, and urges DDOT to prioritize this connection and close this safety gap as soon as possible within its planning and implementation work plans, between FY26-FY27.

The resolution also calls for DDOT to act on existing Traffic Safety Investigations (TSIs) regarding dangerous intersections in the area and to advance a safe connection, prioritizing protected bike infrastructure and intersection safety improvements.
