Our initiative has been supported by our neighbors and elected officials,
who have signed our petition, participated in advocacy events, and passed supporting resolutions.
More than 600 neighbors have signed our petition calling for safer bike infrastructure between Mt. Pleasant and Columbia Heights.
Many of our neighbors have joined our events:
- In September 2025, we organized the Mt Pleasant Transit Party on Lamont Plaza – bringing together neighbors in support of walking, biking, and public transit infrastructure. Two group walks were held, discussing bike and pedestrian safety concerns in the neighborhood. We also collected public comments to submit to the DDOT Strategic Bikeways Plan.
- In September 2026, we organized a bike safety community walk to highlight unsafe cycling situations in Mt. Pleasant and Columbia Heights. Attendees included DDOT officials, Ward 1 council candidate Aparna Raj, representatives from Janeese Lewis George’s transition team, and several ANC commissioners. More than 50 people joined us on this community walk, sharing stories and experiences to emphasize why we need safer bike infrastructure.
Four ANCs in our area have passed resolutions in support of extending bike infrastructure to make cycling safer and more accessible (see below).
Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) Support

- ANC 1D – Resolution on a Safe Bike Lane Connection to 15th St NW Protected Bike Lane (January 2026)
- ANC 1C has passed a similar resolution, which will be posted here soon.
- ANC 1A – Resolution of Support for Kenyon Street NW Bicycle Lane Extension (March 2023)
